Benjamin Rodgers studied at Australian National University in Jazz bass under the tutelage of Eric Ajaye (Chaka Khan, Barry White, Freddie Hubbard). He moved to Sydney in the mid 2000’s to perform with Darren Percival. During this period he joined Jade Macrae’s band. He was also performing with artists such as The Hipstones, Amy Pearson and Joseph Tawadros among others. In 2007 Ben became a member of Mahalia Barnes’ band “The Soulmates”, who he still tours, writes and records with.

Between 2007-2009 Benjamin played with artists such as Guy Sebastian, The Hands, Emma Donovan and was asked by Jimmy Barnes to join his band, touring with him extensively throughout 2008-2014 and continues to play live with him today.
As a member of Jimmy’s touring band, Benjamin has played an assortment of instruments over the years including electric bass, upright bass, lead guitar, acoustic guitars, mandolins and 12 strings.

In 2011, Benjamin was asked to join Reece Mastin’s touring band and consequently became a co writer and co produced his EP Rebel & The Reason and produced his album Change Colours which debuted at 12 on the ARIA charts.

Benjamin has also recorded and appeared on several TV shows around Australia. He has toured all over the world, playing shows from East Timor to Budapest, the Sydney Opera House to Carnegie Hall. An in demand session musician for Bass and Guitar, he continues to play with some of Australia’s biggest acts.
Having secured some amazing songwriting cuts (including two songs on Cold Chisels album – The Perfect Crime Number 2 on the ARIA charts) and production credits (such as Reece Mastin’s Change Colours record).

He has worked with Karen Lee Andrews on her EP Far From Paradise & EDIN (producer/mixer/ engineer) Mahalia Barnes + The Soulmates latest album Hard Expectations (musician/writer/engineer/ producer & mixer). He has also scored the soundtrack to the award winning films Working Class Boy & Working Class Man, Damon Gameau’s Future Council and scored several short films. Recently he has written and produced/mixed Jade Macrae and Karen Lee Andrews latest albums as well as producing James Van Cooper’s upcoming EP. He has also co written, produced and mixed Ruby Rodgers debut EP Crisis.
